What a beautiful weekend this turned out to be for Aston Villa fans. A good performance and solid victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford – our first since 2009 – and we had the added pleasure of seeing Ole Gunnar Solskjaer go into a full on childish meltdown following the game.

Our performance again wasn’t perfect and the Match Thread demonstrates that, but we are growing into the 352 and the main issue is again wasting chances as both Matt Targett and Ollie Watkins had opportunities to give us the advantage long before Kortney Hause fired in a bullet header with two minutes remaining on the ‘normal clock’.

Statistics website Whoscored clearly had us as the better side on the day and their star man award for Man of the Match went to our goalscorer with a rating of 7.79.

Completing the top five on the day were Emi Martinez (7.74), Douglas Luiz (7.64), Tyrone Mings (7.33) and Ezri Konsa (7.29).

Another good all round performance though with plenty of positives to move forward with, safe with the knowledge we can still improve further and given the uncertainty surrounding this season, we have to be pleased with that.
