Need some player ratings after that!

Johnstone – 7 – nothing to do; can’t be blamed for their goal, just unlucky that Chester diverted it and he did well to save that actually!

Elmo – 8 – solid. Stuck to his task well and got forward plenty which was great to see.

Terry – 9 – what a player he still is! Captain’s performance, he and Chester had Bonatini in their pocket the whole match.

Chester – 9 – rock-solid, great goal and just a wall at the back. I read somewhere he’s not missed a game since joining us. If true, that’s incredible in this league.

Taylor – 8 – was a bit worried when Doherty skinned him to set up their goal, but after that, he was near faultless. Offered good support in forward areas too.

Jedinak – 8 – his usual all-action game, broke up play, won everything in the air and on the ground. Just wish he could sort his passing out – gives it away too easily too often.

Hourihane – 8 – worked much harder than usual and helped keep Neves very quiet in the middle. Understated performance but very important nevertheless.

Snodgrass – 9 – what a player. Works his socks off, pride and passion for the shirt and his dead ball delivery is better than anything we’ve seen for years and years. No different yesterday.

Adomah – 8 – not involved as much as other games, but worked tirelessly, yet another goal and a quality ball in for Grabban’s goal. Top man.

Grealish – 9.5 MOTM – what can I say? Dominated the game, Wolves couldn’t get anywhere near the boy. Absolute quality, no fear, always looking to get on the ball and make things happen. Only thing missing was a goal for the lad.

Grabban – 9 – excellent performance again, scored (almost inevitably) a superb near-post goal and kept working, working, working. Fast becoming a cult hero.

Subs:

Bjarnason – 8 – did his job, took advantage of a melting Wolves defence for a quality goal.

Hogan/Lansbury – not on long enough to rate in fairness, but Lansbury not afraid to get stuck in to break things up. I’ve always liked him, shame he wasn’t on longer, eh Melon?

Bruce – 10 – perfection. Set up the team perfectly, subs at the right time, starting to show why he is a promotion specialist. Let’s hope he can keep it going for another month or so.

  • Nicely done JPA… tempting to just say 10 out of 10 for them all isn’t it? So well done for your sense!

  • Yeah it was very tempting! So I thought I’d wait until Sunday and had calmed down a bit before trying to be a tiny bit objective.

  • England could do a lot worse than calling up Grealish in this form. Scotland could do a lot worse than calling up Snodgrass in this form. Ireland could do a lot worse than calling up Hourihane in this form. Ghana could do a lot worse than calling up Adoma

  • So difficult to pick one player out from what was a superb team performance. Thought Albert & Snoddy worked so hard up and down the touchlines, closing down the Wolves wing backs and getting forward continuously. Grabban suits our style much better th
