I can only imagine most Aston Villa fans were dreading Tuesday evening’s clash with Arsenal, but rather surprisingly it turned into quite a nice night at Villa Park.
Head coach Dean Smith had a plan, he made proactive tweaks and more of the team showed passion, desire and some grit. Arsenal didn’t lay a glove on us and the final score could’ve been 4-0 had we taken our chances. As it was, Trezeguet took his chance in the 27th minute and with us keeping the clean sheet, 1-0 was enough to move us back out of the relegation zone and it’s all eyes to the final day’s action against West Ham United this coming Sunday.
Statistics website Whoscored understandably gave Trez their star man award for the game, with a score of 7.91, but I doubt he was Man of the Match for many fans.
Credit where it’s due, but it’s a fight between Jack Grealish, Ezri Konsa, Tyrone Mings or Douglas Luiz for me.

In any event, Jack was second with a score of 7.88, Konsa came third with 7.32, Mings fourth with 7.32 and Freddy Guilbert in fifth with 7.05.

As I only got to follow the game on the sky Twitter feed and then highlights I shouldn’t vote. I did read a lot of articles and comments from Villans who were able to watch the game and there seems to be a consensus that Douglas played a blinder. I really hope that we can keep him.
Really there should be MoM for every one of those men who kept Arsenal at arm’s length.
