Aston Villa’s recent resurgence continued in some style in last night’s trip to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest and former manager Martin O’Neill.

Although the hosts took an incredibly lucky lead three minutes into the game, John McGinn put in a great performance and helped himself to a brace on the day and by the 15th minute we’d come from behind to take the lead. Kortney Hause made it three just after the hour mark and 3-1 was how it finished to really boost Play-Off hopes again as we are back in the mix.

Statistics website Whoscored were positive in their player ratings after that showing and the scoreline could’ve been greater.

It’s no surprise to see McGinn take their star man award with 9.48 to take Man of the Match. Completing the top five on the day were Conor Hourihane (7.73), Hause (7.48), Andre Green (7.37) and Tyrone Mings (6.92).

We go into the weekend just two points shy of Derby County in sixth spot.
