Martin O’Neill must lie awake at night wondering how we can tonk Arsenal 2-0 yet struggle against Newcastle and Boro. But for today, we can all enjoy the win.
I’d have been perfectly happy with a point, but to take all 3 points, even against a poor Arsenal side is something special.
Today, I’ll let Martin speak for himself without going off on one of my normal tangents. Suffice to say, I was hoping for 2 points minimum from Arse and Man U. We are already a point ahead of that so if we can battle out a point against Man U then the doom from Newkie and Boro will be definitely in the past….of course assuming we don’t then bugger it against Fulham.
Speaking on the official site, a delighted manager said:

‘We were disappointed with the last two performances. We should have put Newcastle away in the first half at St James Park and it was similar this afternoon. But here, we galvanised ourselves for the second half.
‘It was an incredible performance from start to finish. It was a performance to savour and to be proud of.
‘Anyone who is a Villa fan should be delighted with the whole team tonight.’
I have to comment…..is this the start of us playing for 90 minutes I wonder? I certainly hope so.
