I’m proud of what the Aston Villa Foundation are doing and chuffed I was able to play a small part in it with the fundraising.

A year on, I still can’t quite believe I managed a marathon, not in my health and (hate to admit it) at my age! It was a bucket list dream taken away in my early 20’s after the brain chop. Just shows, even though it entailed a 24 year wait, you can never say never. My metatarsal still hasn’t forgiven me mind you!

So now there is a second round of grant applications being asked for to use the rest of the money raised.

The scheme provides small grants of up to £500 for projects that align with the Foundation’s values of health and wellbeing, disability, education and learning, young people and, sport and physical activity.

The grants cover the areas of Erdington, Perry Barr and Ladywood. There is no deadline as applications will be reviewed at set dates throughout the year.
