Aston Villa have confirmed that the club will be holding a minute’s applause for former striker and all round good bloke Cyrille Regis ahead of our game against Barnsley this weekend.

{JF edit – I’ve also asked the Club if it is possible to put #9 and some images of him in the 9th minute so we can all sing One Cyril Regis}

As fans will sadly be aware, earlier in the week it was confirmed that the popular striker had passed away and with Regis being a Midland’s icon having played for us, West Bromwich Albion, Coventry City and Wolverhampton Wanderers, the wider football world joined those tributes.

Ahead of kick off on Saturday as we host Barnsley we will be honouring his memory with a minute’s applause, and there will also be a minute’s applause on Friday evening ahead of the Under 23 Premier League Cup clash with West Bromwich Albion at Walsall’s Banks’s Stadium.

The club have also confirmed plans for a ‘Period of Tribute’ in the final home game of the season against Derby County to remember everyone lost over the last 12 months.
