A Ugly Derby Sinks To New Levels But Villa Have The Final Word – Match Stats

Aston Villa’s trip to St Andrews Stadium to face off against Birmingham City in the Second City Derby earlier today sadly sunk to a new low.

Everyone and their dog knew the primary tactic of Garry Monk’s side would be to kick Jack Grealish out of the game and we only needed to wait until the fourth minute of the match for that to be proven true as Maikel Kiftenbeld earned an early yellow card, just as he did in the Villa Park clash.

Then the game went completely stupid as a supposed fan ran on the pitch and aimed a punch at Jack, from behind, knocking him to the floor in the process – said supposed fan was immediately arrested. As was a steward apparently who also took issue with Grealish with claims of a kick, so it was certainly a lively one.

Jack had the last word, scoring the winner but the football won’t dominate the headlines after this one.

Special mention for Monk who developed a serious case of the Arsene Wenger’s and only saw what he wanted to, I guess he’ll recover quickly.
