Following the departure of Steve Bruce the other week, Aston Villa’s managerial search is certainly keeping the media occupied and having been through the round of the obvious, talk is now getting even more speculative.

With talks claimed to have been held with the likes of Thierry Henry, John Terry and many others – without any proof, I must say – Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe was yesterday’s hot topic of conversation.

Howe was simply name-checked by Scottish outlet, the Daily Record but it sparked a fair bit of debate on social media – largely fans took it for what it was, a throwaway claim designed to just pad an article.

Howe had been raised on our forum a few days back and he was another man who split opinions as although he has to be admired for what he’s achieved at Bournemouth, his slow and steady approach to building his squad isn’t what we need as it’s major overhaul time again sadly.

It’s also a bit mad to think he’d move at this moment in time.

At least it was a more novel idea though compared to some of the names that have been mentioned.
