Stepping away from Aston Villa’s wholly predictable disappointment at the weekend against Sheffield Wednesday given manager Steve Bruce made it a must-win game with his own comments earlier in the week, on Friday Villa did receive a small boost on the injury front.

26-year-old Scott Hogan had already returned to training I believe, but on Friday he confirmed his return to full training following the injury that has kept him sidelined so far in the campaign of 2018/19 and whilst I’d imagine even next weekend comes too quickly for a return for him – I guess we’d want to get one or two Under 23 games under his belt first – the Irishman should at least give us an additional option moving forward given the state of our defensive bench at the weekend.
Good to see you back Scott 9️⃣ ⚽️????

If we ever get rid of Bruce and get Dean Smith I would love to see you banging the goals in. I would be surprised if Bruce plays you at all mate.

As above, he was given a warm welcome back to the fold from fans and in the coming weeks, we now discover whether we are actually capable of playing to his strengths when he does return to the pitch.
Or will he be the next one tried at centre-half or left-back?
