Okay, I did this because it made me smile after the Arsenal match, and this time I’m smiling for a different reason. Today really is brighter isn’t it.
As said before I don’t normally do this, but given the justified criticism I have thrown at the playing side of the club and the manager over the past week especially, I’m nothing if not balanced – maybe not during a match and when frustrated but I do try – so to even things up here’s some of the best cracks and comments from yesterday’s stormer against Liverpool.
Again, to be nice, this will be work safe, but the Match Thread most certainly isn’t, so you have been warned.
Prematch:
Tellamuir – This one might slip by us if we’re not careful.
The Fear – We’ve lost. Sorry to give away the end, should have done a spoiler alert. Next question?
BBJ – I’ve never seen us lose at Anfield. Having said that, I’ll not be there.
Plastic Villan – I’m always optimistic before a game. But I don’t have to stand in the rain with the hardcore. I just watch the whole thing from my plastic throne.
Wicked Messenger – This could be a 5 plus goals againster. And yet…could we possibly spoil the party?
mike_field – Have we lost yet?
Clivethevillan – Nah Mike, doing alright, it’s still 0-0, a point would be decent here. Bit of time left to hang on yet.
(this little chat was about three hours before the game incase you wonder why it was a bit silly)

We then had a little chat about betting odds. Apparently we were 15/1 to win yesterday’s game, and BCV pointed out that those odds were ‘like a League One team going to a Premier League team in the Cup.’ simont123 then reminded us all that Sheffield United were only 8/1.

So we were nearing kick off, about 30 minutes off Clive decided to boost all our spirits and tried to get us celebrating the fact we still had 50% possession.

BBJ – However this ends up, it’s now been proved that this team has the ability to play reasonable football. There can be no excuse for hoofball tactics after this.

Clive – Feels like a loss lol Great performance, never expected that today. IF Lambert can get us playing like the first half more often I will be backing him tbh I know I sound fickle cos I am!
SherlockGT – Not fickle at all mate, we have all said if he can get the team playing good football we would be 100% behind him, regardless of results.
Wurzel – If Villa played like that every week we would win more game and I for one would have nothing to complain about.
Plastic Villan – Performance of the season?
BBJ, if you remember his earlier comment, well I left off the bit where he said he’d start dancing through the streets. He came back and let us know that the promise had been kept but unfortunately no photographic evidence existed.
BCV – First half was the best we’ve played this season, including Arsenal away. If we’d gone in 2 or 3 nil up nobody could have said anything. We took the game to them, PASSED the ball and created chances.
Yes, all of us very worried about our own Victor Meldrew, but he wasn’t finished there, he carried on being happy. I’ve never seen BCV happy. It’s scary.
Charizma – Well, that performance was a turn up for the books. Well done lads, proud of you!

avfc_1892 – Now that was the kind of performance I and many other have been crying out for all season! All those saying we are spoilt brats wanting it now now now….INCORRECT! If we played actual football this season like we did yesterday and was in this position I would be over the moon!
