Manager Tim Sherwood has confirmed our speculated interest in Tottenham Hotspur’s Emmanuel Adebayor but admitted there’s no deal in place at the moment.
Sky Sports have him quoted from the pre Bournemouth press conference as saying that whilst he’s a Spurs player still and no deal is in place, a potential deal isn’t dead in the water just yet.
‘If it can be revived and we think it’s necessary, two parties have got to agree on it. At the moment, there’s no agreement and he’s a Tottenham player.’
Sherwood adds that he’s happy with the ‘four’ we currently have but obviously if something becomes available that he feels would make us a stronger unit then he’d be daft to not investigate it – but it would have to be something that improved on what we currently have.
‘It’s unfair for me to talk about him, he’s a Tottenham player and I can’t speculate on where he might go. He’s still their player and that’s it. He was here and we spoke but he’s a Tottenham player. We had discussion and he’s still a Tottenham player so something went wrong.’
There’s plenty of speculation on what ‘went wrong’ with the deal but largely I don’t think that concerns anybody as the vast majority weren’t that excited by a potential deal in the first place.
