Ahead of tonight’s Championship game with Brentford, Aston Villa announced the season-long loan signing of winger Anwar El Ghazi.

The 23-year-old Lille player heads in for the season and he certainly has a decent pedigree having learned his trade coming through both Feyenoord and Ajax’s youth setups. In his time with Ajax, he’s credited with more than 70 appearances with a return of 20 goals for the Dutch side – including Champions League action.

Following a switch to Lille last January he made a further 39 league appearances for the French side, adding another five goals to his tally, and he also arrives with two senior caps for Holland at international level.

His career club tally stands at 144 games, with 29 goals apparently.

The loan deal does apparently have a buy clause in place for if he hits the ground running and everyone hopes he does!

Was certainly a good boost for fans ahead of kick-off – now let’s just top it off with the result please.
