Arsenal assistant manager Steve Bould could join Thierry Henry at Villa if the Gunners legend is appointed to replace Steve Bruce, according to journalist Alex Nixon (via the Birmingham Mail).

The former centre-half has remained at the Emirates Stadium despite Arsene Wenger being replaced as manager by Unai Emery. However, Henry’s appointment as our new boss could see him call on a former team-mate to help him out.

Fans on Twitter were not particularly enthusiastic about us appointing Bould:

A lot of speculation, but not a lot of concrete information at the moment. They say there’s no smoke without fire so I’m inclined to believe that Henry is being lined up by the new owners as Bruce’s replacement.

In terms of bringing in Bould, it would seem a sensible choice. A defensive minded coach with years of experience as an assistant would certainly compliment the Frenchman’s flair and comparative lack of coaching expertise as a number one.

  • Bruce must go, that’s a fact. Now villa is a blank canvas to work from. Ok we still got a few high earning write offs, but this won’t bother current owners too much. Sell to meet for and start building slowly and Do Self. Dream scenario is Wenger and him th as number 2. Whatever I am over the moon. Really last week we nearly went under and now we have choice. This past few weeks has been humbling. And through the darkness light was seen.

  • At the end of the day the owners will choose whoever they want to be manager, it’s their money and they will be the ones to learn by their mistakes like so many others have in the past, they are stuck with Villa now so one way or another they will have to find a winning formulae.

  • We want Continuity, not a flash change of manager and selling key players.. We have a team and manager that are starting to consistently perform. So keep ALL for another season. Jack Grealish has only given Villa half a season so he should stay. Owes Villa big time after helping us drop, drinking and injuries. No legend until all his years on wages and wasted opportunities are paid back on the pitch.
Plenty of senior benchers to sell first for FFP. But keep Bruce and his team and add to it .We may stand a chance of going up. Henry Never . UTV

  • it will be a crying shame if Brue goes and he is replaced by TH I have the utmost respect for TH and loved watching him at Arsenal…but he is not the right fit for Villa. I have been a supported for over 30 years and supported the team through highs and lows. This is an experiment that is show to be a win lose lose . Win for TH lose for the team and lose for the supporters
We do not need another rollercoaster season. Bruce has the pedigree and drive. When the chips were down and we were in crisis mode he did not walk away…it will be a sad day in Villas history if Bruce is sacked. New broom sweeps clean …for how long does TH have the ability to manage a team that has ffp. where he can’t spend. He is use to assist managing a champagne team can he do it with no names no budget and difficult league. I pray the new owners have the insight the foresight and hindsight when making the call… ” PREPARED “
