Another exit for Villa in this slow to start transfer window and again, the exit goes to Manchester City.

All very confusing when Villa are meant to be building a squad but hey ho, 28-year-old former Arsenal goalkeeper Stuart Taylor, who slipped to third in our pecking order behind Brad Friedel and Brad Guzan has moved to the City of Manchester Stadium.

Taylor went to Brad for advice as obviously he played for Mark Hughes when both were still at Blackburn Rovers.

Taylor said on the Manchester City official site:

‘I talked to Brad for some advice and he couldn’t speak highly enough of the manager and his goalkeeping coach Kevin Hitchcock. He has a high regard for Kevin as a person as well as a coach and I can’t wait to start. This is a fantastic club to be joining, a club that is going places with a great new owner and a manager I have a lot of respect for.’

Mark Hughes said: ‘We are delighted to be able to add a goalkeeper of Stuart’s undoubted calibre to the squad. Stuart is still a fairly young goalkeeper at 28 but he provides a wealth of experience and reliability.’

Apparently the England U21 keeper Joe Hart will now go out on loan to gain first team experience.

  • Every transfer window is soooooooo frustrating….can’t we for once have all our signings tied up early doors ready for pre season training??!?!?!?!?!

  • Yeah but Harts work will be cut out at Bloose – he’ll get tons of practice picking the ball out of the net.

  • Does mon have any idea how to get players in before you buy, we have to
Sign 3 players to be the same size as last year, the blokes lost it, why isn’t he
signing players now like Hughes is for man city, we are turning out to be a joke, randy has to be having concerns got to be.

  • We’re Dooomed I tell ye We’re Dooomed. Don’t panic! Mr mainwaring Don’t panic!. Get a grip please. Taylor was not even 2nd choice last season. Things will happen. Always turns round to be a MON bashing in virually every thread.

  • And so the squad size depletes once again…. Anyone know how much we got for him, or did we have to pay Citeh to take him off our hands? lol ! Thanks for the memories Stuart Taylor 😉 In fact the only memory I have off him is being beaten by a Gerrard free-kick on the 1st day of the season before last. Nothing you could have done about that one Stu, shouldnt have been a free kick anyway after Gerrard dived-and-dilly-dally’d…

  • An undisclosed fee, I just read.
Hey, I can finally log onto the site 🙂
    God knows why.

  • I got to say this. I have been reading the negative comments of Villa Fans on the way MON does transfers. Have a wider look at the picture.
I think it is wise for MON not to tell all and sundry who he is looking at. The reason being is there are a bunch of managers in my opinion like Moyes and Bruce and a couple of others, who when they hear MON is looking at a player go out and buy them. The transfer season is not open yet and so no one has been bought officially. (Unofficially Yes?) If you look at every other club only 2 teams have bought players and that ids Arsenal and Man city.

Stop the complaining and wait till the transfer season is shut before you complain anymore.

    Lets give MON the time

  • Was he not of contract in a few days? So yes, it must be for free and why not, if we aren’t offering him a new contract he needs to get himself sorted. Good luck Stuart, better than many who have been preferred over you so I hope you do a David James and come good (just not at Villa’s expense thanks)

  • Good luck to him the chance to sit on the bench (which he has not done at Villa for some time) and undoubtedly to pick up a larger pay cheque. I for one wish him well. Not too much poit ingetting stressed out about third choice keeper (who spent part of last season on loan) being allowed to leave. I am more concerned about Friedels reported high praise about Kevin Hitchcock as a Goalkeeping Coach….cos I am not sure ours is much good, after all our previous one is at Man U now !

  • Why does that player keep on singing for places where he will be a number two? Arenal, Villa, City. Well, he’s one of those who will regret it later and then play until he’s about 50!! Hughes said he’ll: “provides a wealth of experience.” Pah! He never gets any games, which is what brings you ecperience, right?

  • Why anyone would get stressed about this is absolutely beyond me. He was third choice which for a goalkeeper is about equivalent to 6th choice for an outfield player! Really not a bother, all the best to him.

  • i agree Matt_Us MoN wouldnt want us to know what players we are planning to grab from the lower leagues, we might kick off 😉

  • 14 games in four seasons and off to Man City for a wacking pay rise ! Can’t be bad! Great work if you can get it . I bet he can’t believe his luck.

  • “why isn’t he signing players now like Hughes is for man city?” perhaps he isnt managing the richest club in the world who can afford to make quick public advances and meet potential inflated fees.
