Another Point For Villa, Another VAR Conversation – Match Stats

With a solid victory over Brighton and Hove Albion in the midweek EFL Cup clash, this weekend saw Aston Villa’s attentions turn back to our Premier League campaign and we welcomed Sean Dyche’s Burnley to Villa Park earlier today.

It was a pretty lively start and we did have the ball in the back of the net through John McGinn but the Video Assistant Referee technology worked against us once again to rule that out, but we kept plugging away and we did have a 1-0 advantage going into the half time break as Anwar El Ghazi had put us ahead properly in the 33rd minute.

Second half, obviously Burnley looked to push back and with the introduction of Jay Rodriguez, they managed to do just that as he scored the leveller in the 68th minute, but we restored our advantage through McGinn ten or so minutes later. The visitors hit back strongly again to restore parity with only nine minutes of the clash left to play.

2-2 was how it finished, so we take another point.
