Following news that West Bromwich Albion have stolen a march on the capture of goalkeeper Sam Johnstone owing to our current financial problems, manager Steve Bruce must be wondering if he can make plans for his tea this week, let alone the season ahead.

You would think with the impact Lewis Grabban had for us during his loan spell from Bournemouth last year, he would’ve been someone that Bruce certainly wanted back following our failure to gain promotion last season, but Sky Sports are reporting this afternoon that Nottingham Forest are now in pole position for his capture with talks on going on a speculated £5million deal for the 30-year-old.

Oh for the days when we didn’t have to bat an eyelid at spending in the region of £5million for a player, unfortunately for us it’s still all eyes on the 1st of August with hopes that we won’t have another HMRC issue on our hands instead.

Meh…

Johnstone has now completed his move to The Hawthorns as well I’ve seen.
