Are Our Expectations Out Of Whack To Villa’s Reality?

Stennyvilla often contributes to Vital Villa (as can anyone by the way, just email me at astonvilla@vitalfootball.co.uk) or use the submit an article feature on the site.

This one is a talking point and I guess what he is asking is, are our expectations totally out of whack with reality or not. That’s right isn’t it Stenny?!?

Sorry JF, I have only half an article, devoid of full analysis.

However, it occurs to me that when you put your regular polls on the site of whether we expect to win / draw / or lose, we fans are probably not very good at predicting the outcome.

Or alternatively, you could say, Aston Villa FC are very good at defying our expectations, by winning when we don’t expect them to, and failing to win, when we expect them to.

I may be wrong, and have not got the available info to prove it, but it feels to me that a majority of the games at Villa Park have not gone with our expectations.

A 72% win for this weekend, hopefully will!. Recent results against Bristol City, Nottingham Forest, and Middlesbrough seem to show we cope better under pressure in difficult circumstances, than with the weight of expectation when we are expected to win.

Perhaps statistically the squeaked wins at Villa Park versus the likes of Bolton, Forest, and Fulham disprove this, but often performances have certainly not matched expectations, Bristol City included!
