Are The Russians Coming

Joy ahead for Villa? Money to spend? The end of Ellis? All sounds too good to be true? Not according to The Times On Sunday and the News of The World.

Villa have reportedly been targetted for a ‘sensational £60million takeover’. Who by? A ‘mystery Russian consortium’. The reports suggest an offer will go in this week for £5.80 per share (currently trading at £3.70). The last offer was in the region of £4.00 a share. You can guarantee that Petchey would accept such a high bid, he is looking at a massive profit if he sells as he bought the bulk of his shares at prices starting as low as £1.11

Ellis would also obviously make a fortune and having received medical advice to cut back, now could be the time. IF an offer did come in, it would be a test for Ellis because he said not so long back he would listen to serious offers. I also heard on the grapevine that he was only willing to sell to people who could prove they had the money for the team. Lets hope, for once in his life, Villa is first, not second to him.

Ellis could expect to net over £23million, Petchey with just over 20% would also pick up a very ‘useful’ sum. Don’t you just hate these people!!!!!!?!!!!!!! It may well be that they will need to offer Doug some sort of honoree role, he won’t just walk away as he has nothing else left in life. So, my opinion would be, just offer it, let him remain, if he hasn’t got his hands on the power, he surely can’t do anymore damage?!

Reports suggest the consortium can see the potential of Villa and realise they are cash strapped. They are promising Abramovich style spending. Wonder if the current management set up would survive? Would certainly be an interesting and exciting time. You have to taper the excitement with a clear business head. The last thing we would want is for multi millions to be ploughed in and then put as debt to Villa if the consortium got bored. But to end on a positive note….COME ON!!!
