revua asks ‘Will we now lose Macdonald?’

One thing no one seems to be considering in our search for a new manager is that we are likely to lose Macdonald for good if he is not offered the job.

I feel the reason he took so long to decide if he wanted the job is because he knew in the back of his mind that if he said he wanted it and didn’t get it, then he would resign from Aton Villa. This could be why he has been so hesitant in putting his name forward as he was not just considering being the manager but he was considering his Aston Villa career.

I think he has always had the desire to be a first team manager, who wouldn’t? that’s what people doing his type of job strive for. He wanted to see if he could do it before he put his Aston Villa career on the line. He thinks he can do, the players think he can do it and I think he can do it.

Many fans that don’t want him to be manager think he is just going to go back into his job of reserve team manager. I will be very surprised if he does this and if he does I don’t think it will last long. It would soon get to him that someone else is doing the job that he wanted at Aston Villa.

Even if he did stick it out in the reserves, how long do you think it will be before he gets the offer of managing another club?

Villa have thrust him into the limelight now, many more will take notice of his success at reserve team level. Many will see we are sitting fourth in the premiership after three games. Many will see his calm approach and like it. Many will see players and coaches having nothing but good to say about him.

Yes we got thrashed at Newcastle but I doubt there will be many managers out there that have never had a beating early on in there career. It’s those that learn from there mistakes that progress. Lets not forget he is managing the team at a difficult stage and had not time to plan so blips will happen but overall results have been pretty good.

He is at a great age for a manager and has plenty of experience getting the best out of average players. There will be many a club that will see this so if he does not get the job don’t expect to see him around for long.

There seems a lot of reasons to give him a rolling contract of 12 months but very little against it in my opinion. If he doesn’t get it, I wonder how many years it would be until Villa fans will be looking back thinking how we missed out on a great manager.
