With Aston Villa having been long linked with Brentford attacker Said Benrahma, the Ollie Watkins speculation has overshadowed that story of late and today we have a new twist – West Ham United youngster Grady Diangana.

Despite it being believed that West Ham have agreed an £18million deal with West Bromwich Albion for the services of the talented 22-year-old and that personal terms are now being discussed, Sky Sports have claimed that Villa and Fulham have now entered the race at the 11th hour.

Understandably a total fee of £18million is better than the claimed £25million Brentford want for Benrahma, and Sky also believe that The Hammers will move for the Algerian once the Diangana deal goes through.

Diangana Or Benrahma?

Said Benrahma

With eight Championship goals and six assists to Grady’s name last season at The Hawthorns (mainly midfield left), he’s beginning to make quite a name for himself following his youthful promise (England youth caps) and I can see why we’d be interested in him.

I’m just not sure our interest is genuine if we’ve only moved following Albion agreeing a deal as they’ve been after him all summer. But I guess our interest could’ve peaked if Sky are right in saying £12million upfront with the remainder performance related bonuses?

From our point of view, for a homegrown player, it is more financially palatable than Benrahma.

At least we are now up and running with Cash now available for the new campaign.

Well you have taken most of our academy staff, and a player, and now this Diangana rumour. Glad to see we lead by example. I will sort out the scouting department number at the Albion for you…save you employing your own. Boing!Boing!

You are so late with this article. Where have you been.

I really thought Villas charismatic manager would win the day but no the boring Slaven got there ahead of him

As the the Brentford fella knows your manager I am absolutely sure he will go to West Ham.

Don’t really care but it would make me laugh

That needed 3 posts Steve? I do my best to ignore transfer speculation until it’s potentially likely there might be something in it. And with West Brom agreeing a fee, I saw mini potential in us being interested based on the fee as it was much lower (if Sky are right) than I was expecting him to be available for after the year he had with you.
