I only went out for an hour and of course, as soon as I went, Villa announced a signing!

www.avfc.co.uk have confirmed the signing of 21-year-old striker Jordan Bowery from Chesterfield.

What does this say about our own young strikers then?

Apparently he`s signed for an initial £500 000 and has a three year deal.

Lambert says: ‘Jordan’s a good player. The hunger will be there for him and he could surprise a few people. He’s a good lad, he’s strong and powerful. He’s played over 100 games in the Football League and Cup football, so he’s battle-hardened. He’s one for the future but if he steps up to the plate like I think he can then I would have no hesitation in throwing him in, none whatsoever.’

Last season he played 40 games and scored 12 goals.

I apologise for the pathetic photo!!!!!!!!

Mixed reactions in the forum.

BigFatRon just posted:

Delfouneso – Age 21, Played 68, Goals 10. (In the Prem/Cups)
Bowery – Age 21, Played 82, Goals 9. (In Div 2)

(Data based on current club, source: BBC Sport)

I know us Villa fans have got into the habit of being eternally grateful for any signing whatsoever, but on this one…WHY?????
