Martin O’Neill has told Gabby Agbonlahor and Ashley Young to behave themselves against Everton so they aren’t suspended for the Stoke match.

Both players are currently on four bookings each, so a single yellow card against Everton would give them an automatic one match ban and lead to them missing our home clash against Stoke City.

However, on the last day of this month the FA have an amnesty which sees the five booking marker doubled. Meaning a player would then only receive a suspension if they accumulated 10 yellow cards.

Speaking on the official site, O’Neill said:

‘It is a concern. Gabby has been on four bookings for a considerable time.

‘And I am hoping he won’t get a booking for something daft like taking his shirt off to celebrate a goal.

‘There is an amnesty at the end of the month so if they can stay out of trouble they don’t have to wait too long for that.

‘Gareth has missed out on that but you’d think there was a likelihood for a player in combat in the middle of the field.

‘But I am hoping Gabby and Ashley can stay out of trouble.’

Of all the reasons to get booked, O’Neill thinks it would be for celebrating a goal – that’s confidence for you.
