Ashley Young has spoken about his big money move and says ‘The fee doesn’t worry me.’

Bet the increase in wages doesn’t either, God I wish I was young. Scrub that, I wish I was young and talented. Actually, sod that, just wish I was loaded!!

The England Under-21 added ‘The manager agreed that fee with Watford. He has put faith in me, he is very ambitious, and so am I. I am just looking to pay him back. I’m hoping to make my debut tonight and they don’t come any bigger than Newcastle at St James’ Park- hopefully I will play and I just can’t wait for it. Moving to a new club, you want to be starting in the team – that’s the main thing for me, really. I always set myself goals, but I never let anyone know about them, I keep them to myself.’

‘But I don’t think it will be hard to settle here. Everyone seems happy and bubbly and it seems a great place to be. I just can’t wait to get out there and start playing.’

Happy and bubbly, how times have changed at Villa eh?

Young also explained the reason he chose Villa ahead of a host of suitors: ‘The ambition of Martin O’Neill and the club stood out and I’d love to be a part of that. When O’Neill first tried to sign me I put the feelers out to find out what he was like and I never heard a bad word said about him, or the club, so it wasn’t a hard decision to make. The general feeling I got from speaking to everybody, especially the Watford manager, was that this was the right move for me.’
