Gregg Evans, one of the Birmingham Mail Villa reporters has tweeted and facebooked:

The 29-year-old Egyptian winger is obviously known by Bruce following his time as Hull City manager.

The Hull Daily Mail say the fee will be in the region of £1million.

They say that Bruce has triggered a clause on the players contract.

Elmohamady signed from Sunderland for £2m in 2013 was in the last year of his deal at Hull.

Err.. well. Ok ish I guess. Is this really the sign of a massive step forward for promotion and then for a push up the Premiership though?

Thoughts?

  • Having signed him at Sunderland and Hull, I guess Bruce is looking for a known friendly face to play his lieutenant in the dressing room who already knows exactly what is wanted to try and get his message over easier this year. Knowing he can play right

  • I dont get this one myself, surely he isnt going to be playing at right back after we just spent 5mill on Bree. More than likely will be in for Adomah as Bruce often seems frustrated with him. About as inspiring as when GT signed Leonhardsen

  • He did a nice dance when Hull got promoted last time ! How many players of the same calibre do we want ? The team bus will need to be a double decker soon

  • OK, so that’s 6 right backs, at least 13 midfield players, 6 strikers and Samba to sign? And FFP waiting to pounce? God Bless This Ship and all who sail in her!!!!

  • Our youngsters must be wondering what they have to do to get a game, wait till they are old by the look of it.

  • Kinda feels like a Hadji/Kachloul type signing. Bit of a flair player but never done it at a top club – likely on a downward climb. I’m not excited about this at all.

  • Steve Bruce,Aston Villa, firm favourites to win the league, that;s an awful lot of pressure to live up to.I am sure Brucy is doing his best to bring the team back to the promised land however this move is peculiar in an area that is already well stocked.Who

  • Well, as far as dancing is concerned, he must be right up there then Aston Billa….Lol
