According to the Daily Mail, Reece Oxford is ‘seeking a permanent move’ from West Ham United in January. Everton are keen to bring the 20-year-old to Goodison Park, but Aston Villa stand a good chance of winning the race for his signature given they can offer the defender first-team football.

If Oxford joined Everton, he’d likely find himself behind Yerry Mina, Michael Keane, Kurt Zouma and Phil Jagielka in the pecking order. At Villa, however, the England u20 international would be next in line should James Chester or Axel Tuanzebe pick up an injury.

Since rising through the youth ranks to the West Ham first-team in 2015, Oxford has gone on to make 17 appearances in all competitions. He’s struggled for playing time at the London Stadium over the last 18 months, however, which resulted in him spending last season on loan at Borussia Monchengladbach.

The Bundesliga outfit and Manchester City are reportedly keen on his signature. Oxford isn’t interested in a loan move away from West Ham, so he may want first-team opportunities to come before anything else when negotiating a deal with suitors.
