According to RTV Drenthe, Aston Villa have recalled Easah Suliman from his loan spell at FC Emmen due to the defender suffering from a lack of playing time at De Oude Meerdijk. The England u20 international joined Emmen in August but has gone on to make only four first-team appearances in all competitions, amassing a paltry total of 99 minutes of football.

Suliman instead featured heavily for their u21 side and could now embark upon a fresh loan move in January. He also has the option to play in Villa’s reserve side, but that might be lacking in competitive edge. His failed loan spell in the Netherlands is a big blow, as Suliman endured a similar situation at Grimsby last season and would have been desperate not to repeat history.

The 20-year-old racked up only 58 minutes of football in a six-month loan spell at Blundell Park last season. Birmingham Live say Suliman won’t be considered for the first-team despite the current injury crisis in defence. Tommy Elphick is set to be recalled from his loan spell at Hull to fill the void and another central defender should be signed in the winter transfer window.
