Later today, Aston Villa welcome Reading to Villa Park for the next Championship clash of 2018/19 with August seeing a stupid and hectic fixture list.

Fresh from the far better performance against Brentford in midweek, Villa will be looking to continue our bright start to the season so far and get back to winning ways after back to back draws.

New signing Anwar El Ghazi is free to come into contention to make his debut in the match but given known interest in bringing in Everton’s Yannick Bolasie, we’ll have to see if the deal is/has been done in time for him to feature.

In other team news, the only fresh doubt we have for the game is Alan Hutton with manager Steve Bruce confirming that he had suffered a broken nose in the game against Brentford, but it was more than possible he would still play this weekend.

Scott Hogan (groin) and Keinan Davis (hip) remain out of contention at this stage but Bruce was confident they were showing enough improvement for a possible return following the first international break of the campaign.

Otherwise, it’s as we were and after the Brentford performance, Hutton aside, I wouldn’t expect any changes for this one, but they’ll certainly be plenty for Burton Albion in the EFL Cup next Tuesday is my guess.
