Ian Storey-Moore, Villa’s chief scout, has wetted the appetite of us Villa fans by saying there is an exciting summer of action ahead.

Lets face it, as he has helped scout for the possible targets, he must know what we are in for!

He told avfc.com:

‘We are working hard behind the scenes, both Martin and I, to bring in some fresh faces. I’ve been to numerous games abroad, and we’ve had other scouts all over the place as well. We have worked extremely hard throughout the season. I can’t think of how many games I have been to. I have put my heart and soul into it, and I just hope we can fulfil our targets.’

‘This is a great club with a great manager, so you always want to put everything into it. If things for some reason don’t work out then it won’t be for the lack of effort. I’ve done a lot of miles on the road this season but hopefully it will pay dividends and we can reap the rewards with the players we want in.’

Adding: ‘It’s fair to say that we know who we want. Patience can be a key word. It is general knowledge that it is not always easy to get the players you want for various reasons.’

He also says it is far more difficult these days, whereas before you used to talk to the player, you now have to go through agents and that isn’t always as simple as it might seem as it is often a job to find out who represents who!

And he finishes by saying:

‘But am I excited? Yes, if we get the players we are after.’

Good news, hopefully. Don’t think the window is officially open until Friday is it, so plenty of time!?

In other news, reports today are suggesting that Jlloyd Samuel is on the verge of a move to Bolton Wanderers. If true, good luck Mr S.
