Stats update!

Stats update! Can the figures do the talking? Hey fellow Villans.

Thought I’d gather a few stats together from the last 3 season, and this one to see if it can tell us anything we don’t already know!!

Firstly, we are obviously in a season of transition.

MON took us to 3 consecutive 6th place finishes, and although opinion is divided on the subject, we now find ourselves in a season of change – for good or for bad!

So.. Here’s ‘the lowdown’ on where we are 10 games into the new season:

2010/2011:
points: 12,
scored: 9,
conceded: 13

2009/2010:
points 18,
scored 14,
conceded: 9

2008/2009:
points 20,
scored 19,
conceded: 12

2007/2008:
points 15,
scored 14,
conceded: 13

I think for me, what is obvious is that (the 6-goal aberration aside) our defence is excellent. Maybe with the exception of a new goalie before the following season? Or will Friedel still be in the sticks next year?

What is also sadly obvious is that we are not much of a creative threat thus far this season. we have a number of issues –

1) gabby being injured,
2) Carew being off form,
3) Heskey,
and 4) Young playing up front and not on the wing.

I was ashamed with us playing a 5-man defence yesterday against the blues, and therefore unsurprised with the 0-0 result.

For me, young needs to go back on the left, with Marc on the right, and a new quality forward partnering Gabby up front – someone who can head the ball as a large part of our game is reliant on crosses into the box. We’re still early into the season – only just over a quarter of the games have gone, but we certainly need to improve from where we are, and I’m sure we shall!

UTV!
