Bank Holiday Monday saw a hellishly long 97 minutes of football at Wembley Stadium as Aston Villa faced Derby County in the Championship Play-Off Final.

The good guys eventually won out 2-1 following goals from Anwar El Ghazi and John McGinn but Frank Lampard’s side certainly had their moments and having clawed a goal back whilst Tyrone Mings was on the floor injured, it certainly set up a very nervy end to the game as they saw some belief return and they more put us under the cosh.

2-1 was how it finished though and we end our Championship stay after a disappointing three year spell knowing our 2019/20 future is back in the Premier League top flight.

Fans will now naturally be thinking about summer transfer business and you would expect us to do all we can to keep the current group together – albeit promotion won’t end the Jack Grealish speculation – but with the Financial Fair Play demons behind us now we should be looking to do more than just survive, but expectations shouldn’t be set too high just yet.

As we look to the future though, here are some of the best photos from the day.
