Not a massive amount going on with regards to the transfer window gossip but there are a few interesting snippets.

According to the Sunday Express Newcastle striker Michael Owen would be willing to take a wage cut from his reported £110 000 (or £120 000 it depends which papers you believe!) a week pay packet in order to get a move in the January transfer window.

Obviously we’ve discussed Owen before and done polls on whether he’d be a good signing for Villa or not…. and also even more obviously, only one man’s opinion counts on this, Mr O’Neill’s! It would certainly be a high risk move but imagine him and Gabby up front? Could be very enticing and more importantly, think just how far that 1 goal per 2 games ratio could shoot Villa up in the league? Owen IF fit, scores. Could he stay fit? Not for me to agonise over I guess, but I’d gladly go up to Geordie land to pick him up!

Another interesting snippet is that Everton manager David Moyes says they have no money for January. They have been linked a few times, as have we, with Michael Owen!

Meanwhile, and again in the Sunday express, a bit of good news…! Emile Heskey will apparently turn down a January move to Villa and let his contract run out at the end of the season. The 30-year-old ‘striker’ (apparently he is a striker despite the fact he rarely scores?!) will then be able to move on a free and pick up one last bumper contract.
