The Aston Villa Supporters Trust welcomes the news that the club have appointed Rothschilds as financial advisers in an attempt to develop its assets.
Given that this move can be seen as an indication that Doug Ellis’s controlling interest in Aston Villa plc is up for sale, the Trust hopes that a speedy conclusion can be reached and that future owners of the club will be in a position to provide for continually improving playing standards.
Trust chair/spokesman Peter Wariow states ‘Doug Ellis is obviously looking to step down. Whatever the rights and wrongs of his time in charge, we hope that new owners will move the club forward.’
