Axel Tuanzebe revealed that he has a “good relationship” with John Terry and said “it’s great to have him back” at Aston Villa. Terry’s surprise move to Villa had a fantastic impact on all the players last season, particularly in defence. His professionalism and leadership had a positive effect on his teammates, and it’s no surprise that things fell apart at the start of this season following his departure.
His return as assistant to Dean Smith was mostly lauded, as Terry has so much experience and nous that can help the squad. Tuanzebe hailed the former Chelsea centre-back, revealing that he’s and the rest of the side are always getting advice which can only be a good thing. The 21-year-old said to Manchester United’s official website: “I have a good relationship with John.
“He helps me a lot every day and continuously gives me pointers on how to improve my game. He is always available for when I need him and offers himself to help me and the team. It’s great to have him back”. Tuanzebe has made 21 appearances in all competitions over two loan spells at Villa. The England u21 international spent the second-half of last season with the Midlands outfit and has agreed a season-long loan move this campaign.
Smith isn’t blessed with depth at the back, with only Tuanzebe and James Chester being natural central defenders, but he can be delighted with recent performances. Villa have won back-to-back games in the Championship and kept clean sheets in both outings. They currently sit 11th in the table with 24 points from 17 games.
