New signing Leandro Bacuna has shocked the Villa faithful and revealed the players aren’t hungry anymore…they have plenty of energy in the dressing room.

Paul Lambert must have resorted to a popular energy ridden breakfast cereal!

Anyway, in his latest interview with the Official Site now he’s had a few weeks to bed in and get used to the banter and the characters in the dressing room, Bacuna says he’s joined a ‘friendly club with great people’ and like many who aren’t losing their pants following the defeat to Luton, he’s talked about the confidence in the camp and about how pleased the players are with our progress this pre season when it comes to fitness levels and getting sharper ahead of the important stuff.

‘I have been here for a few weeks now and it’s been great. It’s gone really well. I get on with everyone, all the boys. I have bonded with everything. I have really enjoyed the training, it’s a higher level than in Holland and it’s a different style of football too. It’s been good to play games, I feel better and stronger with every match. You need that to happen of course. We’re building towards that first match, that’s the total focus, being ready for the first game. The results don’t matter at this stage.’

Bacuna then talks about the positivity and confidence within the dressing room saying that everybody know between now and the start of the season everybody has to step up quite a few levels and start developing that winning mentality now that fitness levels are high.

With respect to Luton, obviously it probably hasn’t passed the players by that having more than one fit first team striker would be a bonus, but as I said elsewhere the experience Burke, Grealish and Robinson would’ve got from that game will be immense as they move forward in their development. Robinson especially could’ve had a hattrick, so with experience he’ll learn that touch of composure given first team games are quicker than U21 matches, and in the future he’ll bury them instead of snatching at them.
