Leandro Bacuna has said should Aston Villa lift the FA Cup on Saturday, he’ll have the achievement tatooed on his leg to mark the occasion.
With ink already noting moments in his career and from his family life, he joked to the Official Site that if we won this weekend he would have a tattoo ‘on my leg!’ but in his interview he also admitted that everyone in the camp were excited about it and were determined to put on a show for the fans.
‘The closer it gets, the more exciting it becomes. I wish it was tomorrow! It’s a good place to be. I’m more excited than nervous inside. To know you’re going to play in the final against Arsenal is good for a player. Two or three years ago I couldn’t have seen that stage for me and to be there is amazing. People are watching it all over the world. It’s a big cup to be in.’
With our last success in the competition coming back in 1957, Bacuna admits plenty of fans have been ‘telling me ‘you need to win the cup’ so he more than knows what it would mean to the fans if the players could do just that.
With two league losses in the build up to the Wembley trip though, he didn’t believe that would figure in things and confidence within the camp was still high despite the disappointing results.
He also doesn’t believe it’s dampened the spirits of the fans either.
‘I’ve had a lot of fans telling me ‘you need to win the Cup’. Even though we’ve lost the last two league games the fans are still positive and saying ‘we’ll see you at the Cup final – make sure you win that one then everything is good for us’. All the fans just want to win the final and make history.’
