Bakke Thankful For Villa Chance

Bakke is thankful to O’Leary for giving him the opportunity to kick start his career.

He told the official site ‘Villa’s a big club. Don’t get me wrong – I had some great times at Leeds. But it was important to get away and see something new. This move has been good for me, because I’d been six years at Leeds and it’s almost as if there was a curse on me. I never seemed to be out of the treatment room at Elland Road. Certainly last season I couldn’t see myself playing in the Premiership 12 months on.’

Adding that he sees Villa as a ‘great chance’ to get back to full fitness and move his career forward. He also says he will have to wait and see what happens long term but looks like he would like to extend the loan saying he’d ‘like to stay all season.’

‘I don’t know what will happen to me in January when my loan ends. That’s another ten weeks away and I’ve seen all too well what can happen in football.’
He also knows that Villa will have to start battling to move away from the relegation battle: ‘Sometimes you have to dig deep to get back up again and it will be a battle from now on. It won’t be pretty, but we need clean sheets and maybe a lucky goal. We got to Sunderland next week and need to win as they are down there too. Touch wood, I’ve started three games for Villa and I’m hoping I can take it from there. It’ll take time for me to play the way I used to play – going box to box.’

Promising: ‘There is more to come, but it is great just to be playing games.’ Before admitting he is surprised at where Villa are in the league and that ‘We need to be in the top ten at least’.
