After previously suggesting he might not play for Team GB if asked because of potential problems it might cause in Scotland, Barry Bannan has made the right decision and will take the opportunity if it arises.

According to the press James Forest and Craig Mackail-Smith have already ruled themselves out of contention for the Olympics which Bannan is currently the only Scottish international on Stuart Pearce’s shortlist.

In quotes carried by the Express Bannan said:

‘I don’t know if I’ll be picked anyway, but if I am I think I’ll probably go. If you’re going there to play with the likes of Beckham and Bale then it’s going to be a good learning curve. It would help me as a player.’

Well done Bannan, if selected it’ll certainly be an experience for him and at his age now he should be trying to get as many competitive games as possible so he can develop and become the player he should for us.

Not sure what all the fuss is about, but if anybody is throwing their toys over this more fool them really.

In a totally unrelated note, Murph has ordered 10,000 ‘Welcome Mick’ t-shirts as he got carried away with the euphoria surrounding Mick McCarthy. He’s looking for suggestions of what to do with them. At the moment the idea of giving them to Chelsea fans is winning out, whilst sticking them where the sun doesn’t shine is in second place.
