Barry Bannan popped back to Villa recently despite still being on loan with Blackpool, as he took part in the reserve clash against Blues as he picks up his fitness again.

The diminutive midfielder has had a good time with Blackpool but has been out injured for a month with a toe injury, prior to being crocked he was racking up the games and although sad to say I missed it, one of the highlights has to be his ‘wonder strike’ against Coventry in their 1-1 draw earlier in the season.

With the Seasiders sitting in 7th place and only 4 points off the play off positions, Bannan is now hoping he can get his fitness back properly and help push them into the promotion places before he returns to B6 at the end of the season.

Speaking on the Official Site on a day saturated with ‘other news’ Bannan said in his time at Blackpool:

‘I’ve loved every minute of it. I broke my toe and it took longer to heal because it was a fracture to the joint as well, but it is alright now.’

Adding about his highlights:

‘That goal against Coventry was one of my good moments up there. I’d like to think I’m improving and obviously you are going to get stronger.’

Bannan continues to say that he believes playing regular first team football has seriously helped him to move the ball quicker and improved his overall game – which yes may be stating the bleedin obvious – but there’s no substitute for regular games.
