Barry Bannan has been pleased to be involved in Villa’s pre season friendlies so far, but hasn’t been quite as pleased with his own form.

This is something he’s hoping to rectify if he gets the opportunity for more run outs during the Peace Cup tournament.

Speaking on the official site today, he admitted that he is loving being involved with the first teamers on a regular basis and whilst his performances so far haven’t been earth shattering, he says it’s all a steep learning curve and with more experience he’ll hopefully become the player we all think he can.

‘I’m enjoying every minute but I’d like to be playing a little better than I’m playing at the moment.

‘I set high targets and I don’t think I’ve been meeting them in the two games where I’ve been given a chance. But all the lads have been brilliant and I am feeling comfortable.

‘You’ve got to keep the ball at this game because when you give it away you don’t know when you’re going to get it back.

‘So I’ve been trying to keep things simple and then in the final third trying to do a bit. Hopefully the more games I play, the better I’ll get and some of the balls I’ve not been hitting well will come together.

‘It’s all about decision making really. The higher you go up, the better decisions you’ve got to make.’
