Milan Baros says that he is close to full fitness having suffered from an on and off start to his Villa career. The Czech Republic hot shot returned to action against his former club Liverpool at the weekend after missing six games with an Achilles injury he picked up in the Wycombe Carling Cup rout.

Baros told the official site: ‘I’d gone three weeks without any training but now I’ve played. I was a bit tired on Saturday but hopefully when I come back from the internationals I will be back up there fitness wise and my performance can improve. I was feeling the Achilles a little bit but I can play with that. I have had some good treatment with Villa and now I will have some more when away with my country and it should be okay.’

Baros has admitted he played through the pain barrier to face his former club but says he is optimistic that he will be completely trouble free when Villa play Sunderland a week on Saturday.

The 24 year old striker is currently preparing for the World Cup play off match against Norway. O’Leary is hoping that he doesn’t come back this time with any negative reactions to the injury. Baros continued: ‘The Achilles is not 100 percent okay. I played under painkillers against Liverpool but possibly it will be absolutely okay on Saturday. My body is in pain still. But there is no surprise, I haven’t done anything for six weeks.’ Not to worry, nor did most of the rest of the team!
Baros is also confident that Villa are in a false position and will soon make a surge up the table ‘I think it is only a question of time to go up the table. We have a good team and we have had only bad luck with the injuries. Hopefully it will change soon.”
