Barry Loving England Life

Gareth Barry is loving life back in the England team as he gears up for the games against the USA and Trinidad and Tobago.

The Ginger One, despite his many errors, at least got one thing right and brought back Captain Barry and since then neither England nor Gareth have looked back.

Speaking on the officials site whilst obviously the club stay silent on all the brilliant transfers we have already made and just not announced, Barry said:

‘It was well publicised I had four years out of the England squad but to come back this season and appear in each game, nine or ten appearances in a row, it is a great comeback for me and I never stopped thinking about playing for England so to come back makes me happy.

‘You have always got to back your own ability, four years is a long time in football – one season is, but that is part of the game and you live and learn. Different managers have different opinions and as you get older you learn.

‘When you first get back into the squad, it is like joining a new club – different players from when I was there before but it doesn’t take long to settle.’

Oh er, I don’t like that comment about settling at new clubs!

‘It is always a different feel when there is a different manager, but this will have a big effect on the squad.

‘He is bringing in his own culture, an Italian manager and there are not many players who have played under one of those before and just his presence and what he has achieved in the game you stand up and look at him.

‘He is still learning the language but that has improved quickly. In training every manager is different – he is as well and he is getting his points across.’

Yeah so much for being fluent in a month, that backfired but the press have let him get away with that. Well at least till he loses a few games anyway – always true to form the press!

There’s no doubt Barry has grown as a player over the last few seasons, this season was probably his most consistent yet and with him in the squad England actually appear to have a backbone.

Just need a nice Young winger on the left now.
