News is a bit thin on the ground at the moment, the only talk is the UEFA Cup build up and the mixed reactions!

Gareth Barry is being heavily quoted from before the news broke of the squad being sent over. He agreed that the decision was difficult for the Villa boss and said he can see why players might need a rest ahead of Stoke at the weekend.

‘If you’re looking at the game with Stoke on Sunday as the priority then it might be vital a few players do get a rest.’

Meanwhile another left out of the travelling party to Moscow, James Milner says Villa can still win. ‘It’s obviously the manager’s decision. Whatever team we put out, it will be good enough to get a result because we’ve a squad of quality players, even if it might not be the biggest.’ He also says they all know CSKA are a good team but says Villa also have plenty of good players, not just the first choice 11.

Meanwhile, the man who makes all the decisions – and God knows how I’d hate his or any other managers job, I’d be dead in a week – Martin O’Neill said in the Sunday Mercury:

‘Although it was a difficult decision, we have to trust the players who are going. I think it’s a great opportunity for some of the younger lads in the side, which is terrific. We’re not going to be defeatist.’

He also says it was always going to be hard to go to Moscow, then face Stoke and then be up for the game against Manchester City the Wednesday after.

Adding ‘But the chairman has entrusted me with the decisions, and I believe what we’re doing is for the well being of the football club.’

COME ON THE FONZ… make yourself a hero!!!!!!!!!!!!
