Barry – More To Come From Villa

Villa skipper Gareth Barry says the mood has altered at Villa and says there are ‘smiles on people’s faces’ again.

He added ‘In the summer and pre-season there was so much speculation the players and even the staff here were in limbo. When it’s like that, it’s hard to come to work not really knowing what’s going on. So the two aspects – the manager and the takeover – means everybody knows where they stand now and it’s a fresh start. Things have slowly come together at the club.’

He also says the atmosphere at the training ground Bodymoor Heath is totally different (and soon to be even more different as the Lerner guys will take the training facility from state of the arc to state of the art!)

‘You get that impression just looking at the smiles on people’s faces. Coming in, you are looking forward to it again, there’s a relaxed atmosphere around the training ground.’

He also says they haven’t even started this season yet ‘I think there is still more to come from us. It’s not a case of seven points out of nine, we’ve done enough – we’ve got to build on it. Otherwise, the three games that have already gone won’t mean anything. The hard work has just begun, if you like.’
