Barry has also promised fans that the players will bounce back against Reading after the Cup disappointment.

Speaking on the official site, our Captain said:

‘I am sure we won’t let the defeat get to us.

‘We are not unhappy with the way we are playing. We stopped the best team in the country from creating chances.

‘We will bounce back against Reading. Our confidence will be high.’

I’m not sure how many fans will see it the same as Barry, but it did take a mistake and a moment of madness for us to lose our grip on the game. Afterall, it’s not like we went out the Cup against a lowly Huddlesfield is it.

The Captain thinks that we were comfortable for long periods of the match, epitomised by Siralex having to bring on Rooney is an effort to save some blushes.

‘It was a game of not many chances and that is probably as comfortable as we have been against them for a few years, but that is the way the game is.

‘We made a little mistake at the end and they capitalised.

‘We knew that we didn’t create much, and that is disappointing, but we tried to stop them playing and they didn’t create anything either – until the two goals.

‘We knew once Rooney came on we had to start concentrating again. He made a difference. He played in the hole and created a lot of space. He made one and scored one. Rooney is a big player for any team.’

It’s not a bad summation of the game, but unfortunately for us they scored the same number that we created. For any side that needs to be addressed regardless of who the opposition is.
