It has been announced today that Barry Bannan will remain at Derby County until the end of the season.

The original one month loan has been extended so Bannan is now free to play a part in Derby’s final six matches as they attempt to pull away from the relegation zone.

Bannan has faired well at Pride Park so far, scoring on his debut against Sheffield United and being involved in their clashes against Barnsley, Burnley and Cardiff.

The experience will no doubt serve him very well, the lad has the talent to do a job in our first and I expect him to be far more involved next season.

  • Lightweight though Barry Bannan is, the young man is a genuine battler, always gives 100% to the cause, and is certainly not short on skill. I hope and trust that MON has no plans to offload him permanently. I’ve seen nothing to suggest that, I hasten to add. I think such an action would be a huge mistake. This kid has genuine premiership potential.
