Remi Garde is the hot favourite for the Aston Villa hotseat according to reports in France at this minute in time.
The former Lyon manager is being hotly tipped for the post according to Canal+ but he has been out of work since leaving them at the end of the 2013-14 season.
He held talks with Newcastle apparently prior to their appointment of Steve McClaren, and making the claims possibly stronger by Canal+ is that Garde has been working for them as a pundit apparently.
French football journalist Philippe Auclair might be a new name to me, but he’s apparently a well respected wordsmith and he’s tweeted that he expects the bookie’s to close the proverbial books when it comes to Garde shortly.
For anybody who’s confused about the title, well JF tried to be helpful by emailing me with the speculation surrounding Garde, but – well read it yourself.
‘Remi Garde is being strongly linked plus Collymore has apparently tweeted he’s in advanced talks…’
I read that as though Stan was applying for the job himself.
Have another rant by Stan.
He’s not applying for the job, unlike Dwight Yorke who has stuck his hat in the ring, Collymore simply believes that Garde is already in advanced talks with us – but whether that’s chicken and egg with the French reports we’ll have to see.
Garde’s certainly a popular name when it comes to the managerial circuit thesedays – but another risk with no experience of Premier League football under his belt.
Then again he’d know half the squad being French wouldn’t he.
