Loads in the press about transfer target Darren Bent. The fee differs from paper to paper. Most say £18million but the Daily Mail say that fee could rise to £24million. Difficult to believe that figure but hey, it isn`t my money so….!

A gossip site that I won`t even lower myself to name say that Chelsea might hijack the Bent move.

The Metro says that the arrival of Bent could signal a move to West Ham for John Carew. However I think that link is because they say Martin O`Neill is on his way to the Hammers… appears that rumour isn`t true and MON isn`t going to Upton Park.

The Mirror say that David Wheater might be Bolton bound … only mention this as he has been linked with Villa several times.

The Metro are claiming that Liverpool want both Ashley Young and Stewart Downing this month. Yeah right, with us at the moment in a relegation battle we`ll sell two of our top players. Get out of here!

Mat Kendrick agrees with me… not about my jokes but that is another matter we`ll sort out man to man when he finally buys me a pint….I digress… his report: ://www.birminghammail.net says that Bent will be unveiled today and that Randy Lerner is backing the new manager and that he WILL NOT have to sell stars to make way for Bent.

As Mat says, his record is excellent: Bent boasts 153 club goals in 363 appearances, including 129 in 312 league games, while his Premier League tally is an impressive 82 goals in 190 games.

The Birmingham Mail report also says that Blackpool have now formally rejected Villa`s £3.5 million offer for Charlie Adam. That is the way to do it Holloway! Villa are now considering whether to up the bid or to move on to other targets.

Blimey, this report ://www.birminghammail.net is doing well, as it also has a denial of any interest in Wigan full back Maynor Figueroa and that Liverpool HAVE NOT made an approach for Stephen Warnock.

So, hold on to your hats, Bent could be ours today and he could make his debut v Man City at the weekend.
