Patrik Berger says Villa have a bright future with a handful of great players.

Berger seems to think that Villa have landed a gem in John Carew and also talks up Villa’s big money signing Ashley Young saying:

‘Wherever he’s been, he’s done it. The English league suits him because he’s strong and not afraid to go into challenges, and he can also play football. He’s a big lad but he likes the ball to his feet. So he’s a handful for any defence and great for us.’

‘You can see Ashley Young has something special – he’s an intelligent player, he has a good touch and he can only get better. With his physique, he won’t win so many challenges as John, but he likes the ball to his feet as well, which is the kind of ball I like. I think he’s a good buy and he’ll prove he’s worth the money the club have spent on him.’

Adding, ‘Then we’ve got Gabby Agbonlahor, who has been in really good form, and Luke Moore back.’

‘It’s nice to players who like to play with the ball, but it’s not only them – we have other players as well who like to play. It’s my view that as soon as we put the ball on the floor we create chances, which is very important. It’s going to take time, it’s not going to happen straight away. But everything is going in the right direction. The new training ground will be ready for next season, the chairman is spending money bringing new players in – which is probably going to continue in the summer – and we just need to keep going and finish this season as high as we can.’

The future is bright, the future is claret and blue! As someone at the club said to be me this week, John Carew has come here to win things, that is all he is interested in. Long may players like that be at Villa, we need winners!
