Aston Villa’s official Twitter feed does an ‘On This Day’ video update on occasions I’ve noticed and this last one certainly stood out for me as I continued my ongoing education into what this social media malarky is all about.
Sit down, grab a coffee and allow your mind to drift back to 2006. April 16 to be precise.
superb atmosphere that day. One of my favourite days at Villa Park.

We hosted local rivals Birmingham City, then managed by Claret and Blue convert Steve Bruce, at Villa Park. Villa took a 3-1 victory with goals from Milan Baros (who scored a brace) and Gary Cahill.
As good as Ronaldo last week !!! 10/10 will never get fed up of seeing this Cheers 👍

There were a number of things to come out of that tie:
- Bragging rights
- Another Villa victory against Birmingham
- We went 10 points clear of the dropzone
- Birmingham dropped into the bottom three
- Oh yeah they went down helped by us doing the double over them
Ah, the day’s of David O’Leary…stop it, don’t ruin it!
None of that actually really matters when you think back to this game though. One thing stands out and that was Gary Cahill being far more acrobatic than any of us originally thought.
